Panel 1:
Night. Kate comes in the front door, wearing full ninja garb, except no mask. The uniform is dirty, beaten up. She looks tired as hell.
Panel 2:
The living room couch. Kate collapses on it.
| Kate: Joel, it’s really sweet of you, but—
| Joel (off-panel): I wasn’t waiting up! Did you know pirates wore eye patches to improve their night vision, not to cover missing eyes?
Panel 3:
Joel at the computer, staring at the screen.
| Kate (off-panel): There’s no glow! The screen is clearly off!
Joel looks embarrassed, caught.
Panel 4:
Angle back on the living-room couch. Kate has made room for him, and Joel comes over to sit with her.
| Joel: In my defense, that trick works on Portia.
| Kate: You used to convince Portia The Lord of the Rings was based on a true story. Your defense does not impress.
